The Fulton County Museum opened for the season on May 5th. Museum hours are as follows: May, June, September and October, Tuesday through Saturday 12 noon to 4 pm. Summer hours for July and August are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. There is no charge to visit the museum, but donations are always greatly appreciated.
The Fulton County Museum is located on the original site of the 1831 Kingsboro Academy and is in the Historic District of Old Kingsborough, now a part of Gloversville.
Visitors may want to take a few minutes to sightsee in this area, which includes the Historic 1838 Kingsboro Church and the statue of Rev. Elisha Yale who was minister for some 49 years. His portrait and artifacts are displayed in the museum. Horace Sprague, the founder of Gloversville Schools is also honored here.
A new addition to the park is the WW II Memorial in honor of those who gave their lives for their country. Across the street from the memorial is the cemetery of Revolutionary War Soldiers and early settlers of Old Kingsborough.
In 1972, the Fulton County Historical Society purchased the empty Kingsboro Elementary School, built in 1900, and moved artifacts they owned to the renovated school and has been promoting area history ever since.
